The Dave Blair Collection
Class of 1958
Ever since moving down to Danforth, 16 years ago, I started collecting antique cars.
It all started at my first auction, when I bought my first Oakland. It is a 1930 Oakland coupe. As soon as I purchased this car, I started taking it over to the Newport Antique Car Hill Climb in Newport, Indiana. Driving the hill has become my fun for October. After I purchased the 1930, I saw an ad for another auction in Decatur, IL that had another Oakland. This was my second purchase, a 1928 Oakland. This one had a rumble seat. I really wasn't planning on getting another car, but this one must have called to me. A few years later, my neighbor was nice enough to let me know there was another auction, with another Oakland. I just went to see and watch. Of course, I came home with a third car. This one is a 1929 Oakland. It really seemed strange that the first car was something I had never heard of, and a few years later, I have three of them. They were made in Michigan. The Oakland was the mother company to the Pontiac. When the Depression hit, the Pontiac was selling better, because it was cheaper, so the Oakland Company stopped production of the Oakland in 1931.
My last purchase, which was last May (2011) is a 1952 Chrysler Imperial. I went to yet another auction in the town just south of us and again, I couldn't let someone else get this car. This one is one of the first cars that had a Hemi in it. We really enjoy going to the Dairy Queen in this one.
Well, I think, I am not allowed to go to anymore auctions that have cars.
I really am trying to sell the 1929 and the 1928... Any Buyers?

1955 Buick Roadmaster
1957 Ford
The 1955 Buick Roadmaster, I got it out of a barn in southern Indiana and have been restoring it back to original for the past six years. The red car is a 1957 Ford that I bought in 1964. It's a mild custom with changes to almost every part of the car.
